Positive Feedback for Kristin's Creations!
We did a trade, she sent me: 1 heavy pad, and 2 liners! One of the liners is an extra. OMG. ADORABLE!!! *squee*. I wish I brought these earlier. Beautiful work. I can't stop looking at them. And as for the snap closure, these are nice and big snaps, so they will stay!!! SUPERB sewing.

And since I wanted to show off them...here are some pictures. I really appreciate it Kristin!!!!

Hey :D!

When you are going shopping for some new Cloth Menstrual Pads, what do you look for in particular? Many ladies are picky as to what they are looking for, so I decided to see.

I use a Mooncup so really my new cloth pads (hand-sewn, I am very proud of myself as I'm rubbish at sewing!) will only be used in the case of leaks for my first two days rather than relying on them solely. The problem is I don't want to soak pads in the bathroom or  throw them in the laundry basket to go in with the household clothes in the washer. I don't want to put pads on the line either.  Basically I want it to be like with disposables: nobody needs to know it's Shark Week other than me.

Would this plan be hygienic enough?

Or would a machine wash be vital? I have no idea how much they're likely to stain, smell, etc.

Does anyone else hand-wash?

I have not posted in a Long time I know...

I wanted to update a bit on my pad info though..

1. send payment for my first Modest Maiden Custom order later this week.

2. Ordered another Blue Cloud order - this time from her "designer organics" line so I get a leafy print *BOUNCE*

3. Love my Obsidian star and Matersum pads... *must* coordinate with my friend on how to order more. (paypal issues)

4. Still waiting on my first Mother and Maiden order...she is hoping to get caught up soon...we will see...

and last but not least...

I HAVE A DIG CAMERA.... so I can start posting my stash pics!

I have some other sellers I need to touch base with too- I should have contacted them earlier...

so on tuesday and thursday, i did site visits for my job. the cohort program has gotten so popular, that we don't have enough advisors to visit them all on the first night. so they tapped other resources, me being one of them.

both evenings i went to streamwood high school, which is only about 45 minutes to an hour away. which is nice, since i got to leave work at 3pm both days so i could get out there early enough to set up. then i only have to talk and take questions for about 15 minutes, before i leave.

before i went out on my first one ever on tuesday, i swung by mary's office (shes in charge of facilities). shes an older woman, with a wicked sense of humor, so i thought she'd appreciate what had been rattling around in my head for the last few hours...

"you know, mary. i look at everyone getting ready to go. and all the advisors have done this several times. and they're all decked out in their nicest clothes. and pulling their supplies behind them in rolling suitcases, looking super business-like. meanwhile, i'm wearing a jacket from old navy, and sporting my super fancy college backpack."

yes, i used the bright red, black and gray backpack i used in college to go visit a site full of people going for their masters degree.

i'm truly trapped somewhere between adult and "didn't i see you drunk off your ass this weekend?" on the plus side, the visits went well, other than the rooms not being unlocked either day.

Hi everyone, My name is Lizzie and I'm 17 years old, soon to be 18! i've been lurking here for a year. I finally joined this community this week. Its a long story how i found out about clothpads but to make things short I saw a post about diva cups at another LJ community. I started looking into other menstrual options, and then eventually I discovered sites with cloth pads. I have a diva cup and two sampler pads from Lunapads and gladrags. I don't think I can use the diva cup because I'm so small, but I've used the pads and i've even sewn some pads myself. I might post stash pics later.
I love clothpads! They are so cute and comfortable.I also noticed that while I use the cloth pads, I don't have as much pain, and sick feeling I get with disposibles. I'm always afraid i'm going to leak on my clothes with disposibles but I've never leaked when using cloth pads.
I'm trying to get my mom to buy me some gladrags but she doesn't really like the idea. I want to buy a deluxe gladrags kit and extra inserts and  try some punkys, sew-in-love, homemade moma, and vaj pads eventually. I've also been thinking about sewing some more of my own pads.I know it's probably been asked before but how many layers of flannel, terry cloth, velour or other fabrics do you generally use when you make your own? Also do you have some patterns that are your favorites?
I would be okay with my homemade ones but I'm having problems with them drying and they are quite bulky. I want to start drying some of my clothes and stuff outside but I have to keep the pads I made in the dryer for every load of laundry and they still aren't dry. I'm afraid they are going to get moldly. Then I noticed that my lunapad and gladrag dry after once or twice in the dryer and thats why I decided I'd like to buy more.

Designing my site  was a fun and interesting project, but I guess I got a little carried away and put lots of content in there.  So, this is kind of an odd offer for a grand opening sale, but anybody who catches a typo or anything that looks not right gets a free pad.   To claim it, describe the mistake you found in the field that asks for payment in the order form.   If it is indeed a mistake and if you were the first to catch it, you will get a free pad.  TIA!
