anyone else have any trouble with jewelry? after having sage, my wedding ring didn't fit anymore so i had it filled - supposedly with gold, but now when i wear it my arm and hand are covered in itchy hives. I got a sterling silver ring that almost immediately turns my ring finger and anything else it touches GREEN...as well as a platinum ring and anything else I've tried recently. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just not meant to wear jewelry anymore????

i've been wracking my brain (and stalking the internet) trying to find a song I heard (not recently..and I can't remember WHEN). It's a song by a male group...usually a heavier rock group, but this song was a ballad by them (which seemed uncharacteristic) and it mentioned something about the singers daugther..."because of my daughter or through my daughter" or something like that. anyone have any ideas for me????

yeah...i'm going stir crazy today! i'll admit it. the park is soggy, it's a bit chilly outside and the damn sidewalks don't go through. I've been going through all of the toys in the house with Sage all morning and I don't know what else to do with her. I took Zeke's suggestion about building a fort, but it didn't last long. We've read books, painted. We went outside and blew bubbles for a while. We played castles, chased each other, washed the sheets, cleaned out her toy basket, played the duck game and the animals game. We even danced to some music and watched a backyardigans. All in the span from 7:30 til now. The time from 10am til naptime is the SLOWEST time. Most people say that their mornings fly, but mine seem to drag. I don't know what it is. I'm hoping she naps longer today and i'll search for some more jobs.

Wow, i guess i'm in a complaining mood today, huh? sometimes you gotta do it, though!

i guess we should make a run to the bank and deposit a check and put some of her saved money in Sage's account. That'll take a few minutes! :D

I have been alerted by one of our EMT's for our
volunteer fire department that they have received
emails from emergency responder organizations to be on
the lookout for a new form of crystalized
methamphetamine that is targeted at children and to be
aware of this new form if called to an emergency
involving a child that may have symptoms of drug
induction or overdose.
They are calling this new form of meth "Strawberry
Quick" and it looks like the "Pop Rocks" candy that
sizzle in your mouth. In its current form, it is dark
pink in color and has a strawberry scent to it.
Please advise your children and their friends and
other students not to accept candy from strangers as
this is obviously an attempt to seduce children into
drug use. They also need to be cautious in accepting
candy from even friends that may have received it from
someone else, thinking it is just candy.
I don't want this email to scare anyone, but as a
parent, administrator and friend, I thought it would
be best to share this with you, so you can once again
talk to your children about the effects of drugs and
how easy it could be to take drugs without knowing it,
until it is too late. I worry, just as each of you do
about kids and drugs and all the problems our kids
today are faced with. So please talk with your
children about this newest threat to get children
addicted to drugs.

i cut this because it's really long. it's kind of intense, just so you know.

my uncle is very sick. they don't expect him to be around much longer and it's been weighing heavy on my mind that i haven't really talked to him at all since we found out about his illness. it's made me feel guilty, but i had no idea what to say or even how to start. it's a tough call about how to talk to someone when you find out they are basically wasting away. you can't just come out and say - hey, sorry to hear you're dying, but I'm praying it's not horrific. and it's not easy to say ANYTHING to him without seeming awkward.

we saw him at christmas and there was so much tension in the air. he looked great for having gone through what he had been through, but i didn't know how to approach him. my cousin (his son) had been married a year ago on sunday and i don't know if he knew he was sick then or not, but he talked with me alot and told me he loved me and gave me hugs all weekend while we were at the wedding. he was always a really quiet, reserved, not very affectionate person in the past. it was strange, but i had always liked him so i didn't mind that he actually acknowledged my existance.

anyway, i wrote him this letter. i don't know if it sounds cheesy or if it even makes sense. i just feel like i need to let him know that i care. not that i'll just show up if he passes away because he's family and i need to.

i know my dad is having alot of trouble dealing with it (it's his older brother) because they used to be really close and since my grandfather died (13 years ago) things have been strange between the two. my aunt causes alot of tension between them, also, because she has control issues and needs to be heavily involved in everything. not that it's her fault, it's just the way she's always been. but, since my dad's found out that my uncle is sick, he hasn't talked to him or anything. he's basically written him off. my mom and my grandmother are angry with my dad for not speaking with him, but i can understand where my dad is coming from. he's not very good with words and it was hard enough for ME to write my thoughts down in a way that didn't seem awkward. i know my dad very well and i know it's hard to confront someone about a sensitive subject like this. i know my dad hasn't talked to him because he doesn't know what to say. he doesn't want to be cold, but he doesn't want to offend him either. the tension between them has already been rough and i know my dad just doesn't want to make it worse, but he doesn't know how to let my uncle know that he cares about what's going on.

so, i posted my letter at the bottom of this post. if you could just let me know if it seems appropriate or if i should completely re-write it, that would be helpful. i just want to let him know i'm thinking of him and a little "i'm thinking of you" card seems inadequate.

I think they gave him 3 weeks. they thought he was better but it came back worse than before!

I have been thinking about you alot. I know it's hard to know that someone is thinking about you if they never let you know, but sometimes it's hard to let someone know you're thinking of them when it's been so long since you've talked.

Our lives take us on many journeys, we make many decisions that lead us down different paths. Sometimes the path is chosen for us and sometimes we must make the difficult decision on our own, but there is always a presence on our journey. That presence is a support system, sometimes seen and sometimes unseen. It's the understanding that someone is on our side and that someone supports us on the path we've chosen. It's the peace of mind that knowing that presence will always be there, even if we can't see them. For some, that presence is God, Christ, Buddah, Allah, Brahman and for others that presence is family, friends, loved ones. For most, that presence is a combination of the two. It is this support system, this understanding, that helps us face the hardest times in our lives. It's what makes our lives worth living. To a point, we do live for ourselves, but we mostly live for those we love and those who love us. We live for God. It makes what we do meaningful. Because of this, it is always good to know that those who support you are never too far away. That no matter what has kept you apart (distance, fear, ignorance, etc) they are still there for you.

I am sitting here writing this, something I should have done long ago, to let you know that I pray for you daily. You are always on my mind and in my heart. I pray for your comfort and I pray for your strength. Strength to travel the path that has been set before you with pride and with understanding. Pride because of your bravity in the situation and understanding that this is the path that has been chosen for you . I can't imagine being on your path and I definitely can't imagine being on the path thinking that my support system was faltering. I just want you to know that I am , have always and will always be there to help you along your paths.

I just wanted to let you know that I love you very much and you will always be in my prayers and meditations.

does it seem fair that if you will be missing 15 days of work because of relocation that your salary should be less per hour for the duration of your employment for the school year?

ETA: It seems to me that you should just not get a paycheck for those missing days...any thoughts? either that, or because of previous issues with people not showing up after receiving relocation bonuses, giving the full salary should be the bonus. ACK!
